Neemias Queta was the star of Sunday night, recording a double-double that helped the Boston Celtics achieve a resounding 111-89 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Maintaining his starting position, the Portuguese international was on the court for 25 minutes and 36 seconds, enough time to establish himself as the main figure in the paint, finishing the game with 10 points – demonstrating efficiency by converting four of his five field goal attempts and both free throws – and 12 rebounds, four of which were offensive.
The Portuguese center’s performance in the 53rd game of the season was also marked by three blocks, two of them on LeBron James, and an assist – Doncic also didn’t have an easy time against the Portuguese player, who also recorded two turnovers and a foul.
Jaylen Brown was the star player for the Boston Celtics, with 32 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, followed by substitute Payton Pritchard, who came off the bench to score 30 points, eight assists, and four rebounds.
For the Lakers, Slovenian point guard Luka Doncic led with 25 points, while LeBron James added 20, surpassing the 43,000-point mark in his career—playing his 1,600th regular season game, just 11 shy of record holder Robert Parish.
With this result, the Celtics have their 37th win in 56 games and consolidate second place in the Eastern Conference, behind the Detroit Pistons (42-13). The Lakers occupy sixth place in the Western Conference, with a record of 34 wins and 22 losses.
