Cooper Flagg continues to take the NBA by storm and achieves impressive records

The first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Cooper Flagg continues to be one of the main highlights of the Dallas Mavericks’ disappointing season, and last night he was the top scorer in the 134-128 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

With 46 points, the 19-year-old and 105-day-old came close to a triple-double, recording nine assists and eight rebounds, and helped the Mavericks end their worst losing streak at home in the team’s 32-year history, which had already reached 14 defeats.

LeBron James scored 30 points, had 15 assists and nine rebounds, but without the injured Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, the Lakers were only ahead for 13 seconds.

Present and Future

This performance by Flagg came just one day after the young player rewrote NBA history books, scoring 51 points in the Mavs’ loss to the Orlando Magic (127-138), becoming the first teenager in NBA history to score 50 or more points in a game.

Combining that performance with the one he just delivered against the Lakers, Flagg is also the first rookie to record two consecutive games with more than 40 points since Allen Iverson in the 1996/97 season.

The Mavs are in 12th place in the Western Conference with a record of 25-53 and will close out the regular season with three away games – against the LA Clippers, Phoenix Suns, and San Antonio Spurs – and their last game at home against the Chicago Bulls.
