The two players were responsible for 12 of the 28 three-pointers scored in the match that closed the 18th round of the Betclic League, but the former celebrated the victory that takes FC Porto to 3rd place. Queluz, meanwhile, hasn’t won in five rounds and remains at the bottom of the table.
Never having been behind and even leading by 21 (79-58) with 22 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, FC Porto extended its winning streak in the championship to five games by defeating Queluz 99-94 (27-19, 30-26, 22-16, 20-33) this Sunday in the match that closed the 18th round of the Betclic League.
This result allows Fernando Sá’s team, which has only conceded twice in its last eleven matches against teams not at the top of the table – Esgueira (76-67) and Vasco da Gama (103-101) – to rise to third place (31 points), behind Benfica (34) and Sporting (33), benefiting from the defeat of the Ovar team (30) at Luz (89-70).
As for Queluz, it remains in last place with only five wins, having only won once (SC Braga, 83-82) in its last 11 matches, but, with four rounds remaining in the initial phase, it still has a chance to avoid relegation, as it holds the same 23 points as Vasco da Gama (10th) and Galitos do Barreiro (11th) and one point behind V. Guimarães (9th).
Cornelius Hudson (20 pts, 6 reb, 3 ass, 2 rbl, 2 dsl) and Corey Allen-Williams (24 pts, 2 reb, 4 ass), the latter with 5/7 from three-point range, were the standout players for Porto, where Miguel Queiroz (12 pts, 5 reb, 7 ass), who shot 34m, Jhonathan Dunn (8) and Tanner Omlid (8) also deserve mention.
For Queluz, Jelani Simmons (33 pts, 2 reb), with 7/19 from three-point range, and Danilo Horta (12) were the standouts.
