The Portuguese international could leave Milan at the end of the current season and has already been offered to Barcelona. However, the Catalans are not said to have included Rafael Leão on their list of priorities.
Rafael Leão’s future may not lie with Milan, and Barcelona is once again being mentioned as a possible destination for the Portuguese international. According to the newspaper Sport, the winger was offered to the Catalan club, but he is not seen as a priority for the Blaugrana.
The Catalan publication states that the Portuguese international is being offered to several European clubs, including Barcelona. However, the Catalan club is not considering making a move for a possible signing, as the winger is not on their list of targets.
Even so, Barcelona has not forgotten its past interest in Rafael Leão, and therefore will not rule out the Portuguese player if Marcus Rashford leaves Catalonia at the end of the current season.
Remember that Barcelona tried to sign Rafael Leão two years ago, after Nico Williams chose to renew his contract with Athletic Bilbao. However, negotiations for the Portuguese player stalled due to Milan’s financial demands.
The Italians were asking for more than €100 million for Leão’s transfer, an unthinkable amount for Barcelona, which was even more financially weakened at the time. Therefore, the interest faded and the Portuguese international remained in Italy.
However, Rafael Leão’s form has not been the best, nor has his relationship with Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian coach believes that the Portuguese winger is not an undisputed starter and may not count on him for next season.
Therefore, Corriere della Sera reports that Milan may be willing to consider offers for Rafael Leão worth €50 million. It’s worth noting that the player’s release clause was set at €170 million after renewing his contract until 2028.
Barcelona is unlikely to make an offer, as they plan to buy Marcus Rashford outright. The club is expected to activate the €30 million purchase option clause so that the England international can permanently leave Manchester United and join the Blaugrana.
If this plan doesn’t work out as Barcelona advocates, it’s possible that there are other targets, and none of them will be Rafael Leão.
