After a 1-0 victory at San Mamés, thanks to a goal by Beñat Turrientes in the 62nd minute, the team managed by American Pellegrino Matarazzo won at Anoeta with a penalty by Mikel Oyarzabal in the 87th minute.
Portuguese international Gonçalo Guedes also celebrated, after a match in which he was substituted in stoppage time, at 90+3 minutes.
Real Sociedad, who eliminated the second most successful team in the competition – Athletic has 24 trophies, compared to 32 for ‘the king’ FC Barcelona – are looking for their third title, after those won in 1986/87 and 2019/20.
The first triumph was achieved against Atlético de Madrid, with a 4-2 victory on penalties, after a 2-2 draw at the end of extra time, in Zaragoza.
Now, the Basque team will meet the ‘Colchoneros’ again, who will be playing their 20th final, in search of their 11th title, after losing 3-0 away to FC Barcelona on Tuesday, following a 4-0 home win.
Marc Bernal, in the 29th and 72nd minutes, and the Brazilian Raphinha, in the 45+4 minute from a penalty, scored the goals for the current trophy holders, who threatened a comeback.
Atlético de Madrid had won at home with four goals in the first half, by Eric García (own goal), Antoine Griezmann, Ademola Lookman and Julián Alvarez.
The Copa del Rey final will take place on April 25th at the La Cartuja Stadium in Seville.
