FC Porto has already filed a complaint against Suárez following his controversial gesture in the semi-final match.

The ‘Dragons’ have already submitted their complaint to the federation’s disciplinary body, contesting the striker’s behavior in the first leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-final between Sporting and FC Porto, played on Tuesday at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon, which the ‘Lions’ won 1-0, with a goal from the Colombian international from a penalty.

Immediately after the end of the match, in the mixed zone, the president of FC Porto, André Villas-Boas, had already stated his intention to file a complaint against Suárez for having “called the referee Cláudio Pereira a thief with gestures”.

“As a coach in China, I received a four-match suspension for a gesture similar to Suárez’s. The Sporting president has already called the FPF president, João Capela, and Nuno Almeida a thief. Suárez ended up calling the referee a thief with gestures,” said the head of the current Primeira Liga leader.

The ‘dragons’ also complain about alleged aggression by the Colombian striker against Polish defender Bednarek, who left the game in the first half due to physical problems – today the ‘blue and white’ club confirmed a rib injury – and is doubtful for the classic against Benfica, scheduled for Sunday, for the 25th round of the Primeira Liga.

Also at the end of the match, Sporting’s president, Frederico Varandas, accused his Porto counterpart of wanting to make Suárez a “scapegoat,” saying that the striker’s gestures came after an incident in which he believes Alberto Costa should have been sent off.

“The consequence is Suárez making the gesture. We’re not discussing why it happened. Do you know why he’s talking about suspension games? Because he’s afraid Suárez will continue playing, because Suárez plays a lot, scores a lot of goals, and is a nuisance. Should he have done it? No. But let’s put the reason why into context. If Suárez is punished, I want to understand how many games a club should be punished for influencing a referee, by showing videos at halftime of even youth games,” stated the leader of the two-time national champions.
